Dr. Helen Gichohi​ is a Kenyan ecologist, past President of the African Wildlife Foundation, past member of the board of trustees of Kenya Wildlife Service, as well as the former Managing Director of Equity Group Foundation. After obtaining her B.S. in zoology from Kenyatta University, her Masters in the Biology of Conservation from the University of Nairobi, and her PhD in ecology from Leicester University, Helen went on to become the Director of the African Conservation Centre support by the Wildlife Conservation Society. In 1998, she was selected to a five-person panel to advise US President Bill Clinton about environmental issues in Africa. In January 2006, Helen won the Order of Great Warrior of Kenya (OGW) and later Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear (MBS) in recognition of her contribution to conservation in Kenya.
